I’m back, phew!  I apologize for my unexplained absence over the long weekend…I was on vacation.  And it was awesome.  So, I’m sorry if you missed any cool stuff on Monday or Tuesday, but the good news is, here’s what’s happening today through Sunday!

Wednesday August 11th

Hard Summer Tour featuring Crystal Castles, Rusko, Sinden, Destructo

It’s going to be a dance party at Stubb’s tonight with Crystal Castles.  Doors at 5 pm.  Tickets are a hefty $38 and you can get them here.

The Rumble in Austin: The Sour Notes, Hollywood Gossip, Literature

Check out some great local bands for FREE tonight at Beerland.  Doors at 9 pm.

Art Versus Industry

See another great up-and-coming Austin band at the Crystal Castles after-party indoors at Stubb’s.  Doors at 10 pm.  Tickets are $8 (or FREE with Stubb’s wristband) and you can get them here.

Thursday, August 12th

Uncle Lucius & East Cameron Folkcore Tour Kickoff Party

This huge folk/rock/indie show at the Mohawk will feature the following bands:

Uncle Lucius (11pm-12am)
East Cameron Folkcore  (10pm-10:40pm)
The Bread (9pm-9:40pm)

Frank Smith  (12:30pm-1:15am)
Through the Trees (11:30pm-12:10am)
Mike and the Moonpies  (10:30pm-11:10pm)
Guns of Navarone (9:30pm-10:10pm)

Doors at 8 pm.  Cover is $6/$8 for under 21.

KGSR’s Unplugged at the Grove with The Trishas

Enjoy another FREE show at The Shady Grove with The Trishas.  Doors at 8 pm.

Gentleman Jesse, White Mystery, The Barerracudas, Pleasure Kills, Melissa Bryan Support Group

Friday, August 13th

Texas Industrial Fest

From the promoter, this event will feature:

19 bands of all industrial sub-genres (including Sleep Now Yes, Art Versus Industry, The Future Process, and more), 5 industrial DJs, fetish Shows, fire dancers, caged dancing, and cyberpunk art/visuals.

Doors open at 4 pm.  Show up early to get FREE stuff, including beer.  Tickets are $15, $25 for VIP with backstage access.  Pick them up here.

Big Daddy Kane, Doug E Fresh, Salt N Pepa, Rob Base

Salt N Pepa what WHAT!  It’s at the Austin Music Hall, doors at 7 pm.  Tickets are $30 and you can buy them here.

C3 Presents: AA Bondy with JBM

The singer-songwriter will be at ND at 501 Studios, doors at 9pm.  Tickets are $12 and you can buy them here.

Paradise Titty with Misstallica

This could be a great night for fans of Guns ‘n’ Roses or Metallica.  Two all-female cover bands will be at The Parish on Friday night.  Doors at 9 pm, tickets are $10 and you can get them here.

Homegrown Live with SPEAK, L.A.X, The White Hotel, & 6th Street

A terrific line-up of local bands will be at Antone’s, doors at 8:30 pm.  Tickets are $10 and you can buy them here.

Bemba Entertainment Presents: World Music Night One Year Celebration

For one year now, Bemba Entertainment and KUT90.5/ have brought you World Music Night every Tuesday night at Momo’s, giving Austin a chance to connect with cultures from all over the world through music. Bemba Entertainment will celebrate the success of this weekly event by introducing 15 bands throughout the day accompanied by food and beverages from around the world. The World Music Night One Year Celebration will take place on Saturday, August 14th, from 3:00 P.M. to 2:00 A.M,  at Momo’s. The Bands participating in this event include; El Tule, Atash, 1001 Nights Orchestra, Aciable, Buscando El Monte, Huerta Culture, Manga Rosa, Rattletree Marimba, Wino Vino, Anne Simoni, La Guerrilla, Austin Piazzolla Quintet, Frederico7 & The Hashashin, Oliver Rajamani and Azul. Food will be provided by Takoba, Baby Zach’s BBQ, Karibu, and Rio’s Brazilian Café.

The cost is $10.

The British songstress will be at La Zona Rosa on Saturday, doors at 9 pm.  Tickets are $20 and you can get them here.

ND Double Feature: Hamell on Trial with Joanna Barbera & Skyrocket!

Mat Kearney and Jane Carrey

Singer-songwriting at the Central Presbyterian Church, doors at 9 pm.  Tickets are $20 and you can buy them here.

Freshmillions with Superlitebike, Love @ 20

Local bands hit up The Parish, doors at 9 pm.  Cover is $7.

Sunday, August 15th

Inner Sanctum Records 40th Anniversary Reunion

The 24th Annual Summer Tribute to Elvis

From the promoter:

Ted Roddy and The King Conjure Orchestra have paid tribute to The King at Austin’s Continental Club twice annually since 1986. Starting as a hoot night and evolving into a full-tilt rock-n-roll show experience Ted Roddy and crew have wowed audiences with their spot-on interpretations of Elvis’ musical legacy.

No jumpsuits, no jokes just dynamite rock-n-roll a la King!

Kicking off the show with Shaun Young and the New Blue Moon Boys performing The Sun Record Years and followed by Ted & The King Conjure Orchestra’s 70’s Vegas tribute.From That’s All Right Mama to 2001 and beyond.
