Wow, it’s going to be another great week for music events in Austin, Texas.  So, let it begin!

Tuesday, April 27th

Toubab Krewe

Check out what’s dubbed “Afro surf-pop” by the Austin Chronicle indoors at Stubb’s tomorrow night.  Doors at 9 pm.  Tickets are $12 and you can buy them here.

Ocote Soul Sounds – April Residency

The experimental Latin band continues their residency at Lambert’s…it’s ending soon, so get out there!  Tickets are $5 at the door, doors open at 10 pm.

Wednesday, April 28th

Fundraiser for Nepal School Building Project with Ariel Abshire

I’m all about the worthy-cause events.  This one’s taking place at Molotov from 6-8 pm and it’s FREE with plenty of time to hang out downtown afterword.  Details and RSVP available here.

Mind of Adi Series w/ English Teeth, Missions, C-Tezz All Stars

The Mind of Adi Series rolls on into summer with an encore of The English Teeth.  If you missed it last week, catch it this time inside at The Mohawk, doors at 6 pm.  Cost is only $5.

Represent Austin Presents: Funkin’ Hump Days w/ The Bruce James Soultet, Jeff Lofton’s Electric Thang, and In The Pink

Some jazz fusion and soul at Antone’s for your liking.  $5 at the door.

Thursday, April 29th

Phoenix w/ Two Door Cinema Club

Yay!  I’m excited to see Phoenix live for the first time at Stubb’s.  Tickets have been sold out for months now, so you should check out Craigslist if you need some.  Doors at 7 pm.

Do512 & Sanctuary PrintShop Present: Show N Tell (Benefit for Groundwork Music Project)

From Do512: Show N Tell is a benefit for Groundwork Music Project, a local nonprofit that facilitates music education for Austin preschools the lack the funding to host their own programs. Come check out the top-notch performances from local artists SPEAK, Crash Gallery, DJ Hot Britches!, FM Campers, Castle Nova, Sons of Sherri, and The Redboys while supporting this fantastic cause!

Another great cause, all proceeds benefit kids’ music education.  This is an all ages event and it’s only $10, $5 if you RSVP on Do512 or have a ticket from the Phoenix show!  It starts at 8 pm at The Mohawk.

The Laughing – Phoenix Aftershow

Austin indie band The Laughing scored the honor of playing indoors at Stubb’s after Phoenix.  Cost is $6 and you can buy tickets in advance here.  Doors open at 10:30 pm.

Friday, April 30th

MR. Fest – Brought to you by KTSW 89.9 FM

This sweet, 2-day fest is totally FREE and has a fantastic line-up running Friday and Saturday.  It’s taking place in San Marcos in various venues (check out the schedule here).  Playing will be The Black and White Years, The Soldier Thread, Bright Light Social Hour, Zlam Dunk, This Will Destroy You and lots more.  You probably wouldn’t be able to see this quality of local bands for FREE anywhere, so I highly suggest getting thee to San Marcos this weekend.  On Friday it starts at 4 pm, and Saturday, at noon.

Knuckle Rumbler Presents: The Robot Parade

Knuckle Rumbler continues their roll of crazy awesome parties with The Robot Parade at Beauty Bar.  Hip-hop MC Zeale will be celebrating the release of his new EP “Robot Radio” and will perform, along with GOBI and L.A.X., featuring DJ sets by Hot Britches! and Richard Gear.  The whole event will be hosted by Neiliyo.

The show is $5 if you RSVP on Do512, $7 if you don’t.  Doors at 9 pm.

The Dead Weather w/ The Ettes

You guessed it…this one’s sold out too.  It’s happening Friday at Stubb’s though.  Doors at 7 pm.

Van Morrison

FACT: there are more videos of people covering Van Morrison songs online than there are of Van Morrison performing.  FACT: tickets to see Van Morrison at Bass Concert Hall are very expensive; they start at $85.  FACT: you can buy them here.  Doors open at 8 pm.

Mono w/ Balmorhea

This will be a very ethereal show taking place inside at Emo’s.  Tickets are $13 and you can buy them here.  Doors at 9 pm.

Saturday, May 1st

Norah Jones w/ Sasha Dobson

What do you think about this one?  Yep…it’s sold out too.  It’s at Stubb’s, doors at 7 pm.  Luckily for you, she’s also playing Sunday…

Dr. Dog w/ Deer Tick

Psychedelic pop tunes outside at Emo’s, doors at 9 pm.  Tickets at the door are $18…I would call Emo’s to make sure they’re not sold out.

Foot Patrol w/ T Bird and The Breaks

Check this out at Antone’s, doors at 8 pm.  Tickets are $10, $30 for VIP and you can buy them here.

Bob Schneider & Mitch Watkins

Another Austin appearance by Bob Schneider…it’s taking place at Antone’s, doors at 7 pm.  Tickets are $15 and you can buy them here.

Erin Ivey – Norah Jones Aftershow

Catch Austin’s sweetheart Erin Ivey after Norah Jones indoors at Stubb’s.  Doors open at 11:30 and tickets are $10.  Buy them here.

Sunday, May 2nd
