Tuesday, April 6th

World Music Night sponsored by KUT 90.5fm/kut.org. and Bemba Entertainment

KUT hosts their regular Tuesday world music night at Momo’s.  Latin at Heart and Taína Asili y La Banda Rebelde will perform.  Come expand your horizons for $5, $3 for students.  Doors open at 7:30 pm.

Ocote Soul Sounds

Led by founding members of the Latin bands Antibalas and Grupo Fantasma, Ocote Soul sounds is bringing its seven-piece band to Lambert’s for the month of April.  Check it out starting at 10 pm for only $5.

Wednesday, April 7th

$2 Shows Presented by Soundcheck Magazine

$2 Shows is a non-profit organization whose mission is to support community art and other local non-profits by bringing together different types of artists for a monthly event.  April’s proceeds will be donated to The Academy at Austin, a Paul Mitchell Partner School who is accepting funds on behalf of The Andrew Gomez Dream Foundation. The Andrew Gomez Dream Foundation provides both educational opportunities and financial assistance to students and new salon professionals, in addition to helping disadvantaged or hard-hit cosmetologists and cosmetology-related enterprises.

This is taking place at Emo’s, doors at 8 pm, and is featuring Legs Against Arms, Broken Folk, and Elliot Wolf, along with free hair styling, hand massages, and artist/fashion booths.  What could be better?!

Singer Songwriter Storyteller Night w/ The Tiny Tin Hearts

This should be an entertaining night at Antone’s if old-fashioned songwriting is your thing!  Also appearing will be Lee Barber and The Broken Cup and Jeff Plankenhorn.  Doors at 7 pm, call Antone’s for price details.

Thursday, April 8th

Los Lonely Boys Acoustic Brotherhood Tour w/ Sahara Smith

Check out these popular Texans play an acoustic set at Antone’s on Thursday.  Doors at 8 pm and tickets are $25.  Buy them here.

The Big Pink w/ A Place To Bury Strangers

It’s taking place at The Parish, doors at 8 pm.  Tickets are $13 and you can buy them here.

Lucero with Shooter Jennings

This should be interesting!  It’ll be at Emo’s, doors at 9 pm.  Tickets are $18 and you can buy them here.

Friday, April 9th

101X and Soundcheck Magazine Presents Camera Obscura

The Scottish band will be playing the outdoor stage at Emo’s.  Doors are at 9 pm and tickets are $18 at the door.

Holly Golightly & The Broke- Offs with Pink Nasty

On the indoor stage at Emo’s.  Doors also at 9 pm and tickets are $12 at the door.

Ani DiFranco

Folk hero Ani DiFranco will play the Paramount Theatre, doors at 7 pm.  Tickets are $35 and you can buy them here.

Saturday, April 10th

Yeasayer w/ Javelin

I’m very, truly sad to be missing Yeasayer in Austin this weekend (though it’s totally worth it for vacationing!!!).  Check out what is sure to be a great 2 night run at La Zona Rosa.  Doors at 8 pm and tickets are only $15.  Buy them here.

Vampire Weekend

That little band Vampire Weekend will play Stubb’s, doors at 7 pm.  Tickets are sold out, so if you need them, hit up Craigslist.

Girl Talk at 40 Acres Fest 2010

White Denim and Girl Talk playing at UT’s 40 Acres Fest for FREE?  That’s pretty kick-ass if you can deal with lots and lots and lots of crowds and no parking.  Check it out on the Main Mall of campus starting at 7 pm (I’d highly recommend getting there EARLY!).

POI Dog Pondering w/ Abra Moore

This will be a high-energy and visually interesting show at Antone’s.  Doors at 8 pm and tickets are $15.  Buy them here.

Sunday, April 11th

Yeasayer w/ Javelin

If you can’t get into Vampire Weekend, check out one of their major influences at the Bass Concert Hall on Sunday.  Doors at 7 pm and tickets start at $29.  Buy them here.
