Austin Events: October 23 – 25

Wow!  There is so much going on this weekend that there’s no excuse for not getting out there in the beautiful weather and enjoying music of some kind.  There are a lot of free and family friendly shows too, so have a great time all!

Because there are so many listings this weekend, I’m not going to post videos, just the event info.  Have a nice weekend!

Friday, October 23rd

The Bravery, Living Things, The Dustys

They’ll be at Emo’s at 10 pm and tickets are $15-17 and you can pick them up here.

Kelly Willis, The Trishas

One of Austin’s beloved country acts will be at Threadgill’s World HQ at 9 pm.  Tickets are $15-$20 and you can buy them here.


The Australian foursome will be playing a FREE show outside of Truluck’s downtown (Fourth and Colorado) tonight at 6 pm.  Pretty nice!

Carolyn Wonderland

Another Austin favorite will be playing at the Bugle Boy at 8 pm.  Tickets are $25 and you can buy them here.

Saturday, October 24th

White Denim, Brazos

Check it out at Mohawk at 9 pm.  Tickets are $10-$12 and you can buy them here.

The Midgetmen

The crazy Austin punk band will be at Stubb’s for the record low price of $8.  Pick up tix here.

Oktoberfest at the German-Texan Heritage Society

This is a family friendly event with a suggested donation of $2.

The German-Texan Heritage Society (GTHS) presents Oktoberfest at the historic German Free School, 507 E. 10th St (at Red River St) in Austin, TX. The festival will be held on Saturday, October 24th from 3 — 9 p.m.  Live music will be provided by The Walburg Boys, The Siekers, and The Flatcar Rattlers with additional performances by students from the Austin Waldorf School.  Fun activities for children include Moonwalks, Face Painting, Arts & Crafts, Balloon Games as well as traditional German Children’s Games of Sackhuepfen, Eierlaufen, and Topfschlagen.

Janis Ian

The singer-songwriter legend will be at the Bugle Boy at 7 pm.  Tickets are $30 and you can pick them up here.

Austin Banjo Club

This should be fun.  It’s going to be at 10 am at the Austin Farmer’s Market and it’s FREE.

Viva la Vida Fest

Another fun and FREE family-friendly event!  It’s celebrating Dia de los Muertos and it’s going to be at the MexicArte Museum on Congress at 2 pm.

Sunday, October 25th

The Tragically Hip

They’ll be at La Zona Rosa Sunday at 9 pm.  Tickets are $25-$27 and you can buy them here.


Some Latin tunes to end your weekend…Check it out at Ruta Maya at 7 pm.  Cost is $5.
