Austin Events: August 3 – 6

August 3, 2009

Tons of stuff going on this week in Austin!  Check out Monday and Tuesday below and make sure to check out Wednesday and Thursday after the jump!

Monday, August 3rd

Counting Crows, Augustana, The Saturday Night Rebel Rockers Traveling Circus & Medicine Show

If you like these bands, this is the show to see.  Tonight at Austin Music Hall at 7 pm.  Tickets $38 and you can get them here.

Glasvegas, Ida Maria

If you prefer a bit more indie flavor in your concerts, check out this show tonight at Emo’s for $15.  Pick up the tickets here and check out my review of Ida Maria here!

Tuesday, August 4th

M. Ward

This should be a great show.  It’s tomorrow at Antone’s at 9 pm.  Tickets are $20-$22, get them here.  You can read my review of Hold Time here!

Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp

An unbelievable lineup for a reasonable price.  Much has been said about Dylan’s skills live, but if you saw Sunday’s Austin City Limits airing of Wille and the Wheel, you know he still has it and so does Mellencamp.  See them tomorrow at the Dell Diamond for $67.50.  Get tickets here.

Barcelona, Meese, Seabird

Thanks to Nik P. for the heads-up on this show.  If you want to check out some up-and-comers tomorrow night, head over to Emo’s at 8 pm.  Tickets only $8 and you can get them here.

Wednesday, August 5th

James McMurtry, Jon Dee Graham

Austin legend James McMurtry plays his regular gig at the Continental Club.  Get more info here.

Thursday, August 6th

Lone Star Swing

A Scottish Texas swing band?  That just sounds like fun!  From their website:

About The Lone Star Swing Band:

The Lone Star Swing Band have been together for over 12 years as a four piece band and were formed by Duncan McLean, who has inspired many Orkney musicians with his rather contagious love of Western Swing music. The line up was completed two years ago with the addition of a drummer. They have played at many events in Orkney and have travelled to the Faeroes in to play at the Faeroese Arts Festival in Torshavn, as well as being invited to play at the Edinburgh Festival two years running. They have played many varied events, such as folk festival stomps and St Magnus festival clubs and have supported Hayseed Dixie and Albert Lee. They are earning a reputation as a top band who mix some fab music with a good sprinkling of comedy and fun! The demo you can hear on the profile is from 2001 and a new recording…. and maybe a CD….. are in the pipeline.

Check this out for free at Artz Rib House Thursday at 7:30 pm.
